I think the Topaz plugins do a better artistic job of “oil paint” effects than the new CS6 does, the other things are cool though and the new background is also better.
A cropped wide angle shot will still give you a different perspective than the same image taken with a telephoto lens. Buildings look a lot more “flat” on a wide angle.
Leave it up to Rich to have a different angle on CS6. Everyone has been touting the content aware stuff and Rich goes the other way. I’m so glad you guys have Mr. Harrington on board.
The idea being you need wide angle of view, but still need proper architectural lines. Is much easier/faster than stitching several images images and being concerned about overlap areas.
It is not intended to take away the artistic look and distorted style of the wide angle, just a feature t help make things faster.

For the wide angle distortion stuff: If you have to do so much cropping afterwards, wouldnt it be better to start with a more narrow angle lens in the first place? The benefits of a wide angle lens are gone after so much distortion correction and then cropping out all those empty corners.
Pretty cool stuff. The only thing that puzzles me was that wide lens distortion correction. When he Undistorted that picture, it had to be cropped to keep square sides. By cropping, you lose the wide angle. Weird :s
This more of a sales pitch rather than a review.but you know that by looking at their channel CS6 has some neat features. What gets me is if you are aside angle shooter just use a PC Tilt Shift lens so you don’t lose part of your image due to PS correction.
I still think this is not a “review”. The better term would be an overview of the new features. A review would state some of the short-comings of the software.
Nice Video :)

try faking a wide aperture in a dark room with out a flash.

Colour look-up, a useless feature I will surely never use because I like natural colours.

$1130 in Australia
$670 in USA
I think Adobe must be using the new Rip Off tool to adjust pricing.
Really good review. Thanks for the video.
so now you can fake a wide aperture
